Dubai does theme parks at full throttle: the world’s largest indoor park, a LEGO universe, and a waterpark wrapped around a shark lagoon. But tickets run AED 250–350 per person, so choosing wrong is an expensive mistake. This guide compares the big three — IMG Worlds of Adventure, Legoland Dubai and Aquaventure Waterpark — on rides, prices, ages and when to go.
Prices are indicative 2026 ranges and change with seasons and offers — always check official sites before booking. Online advance purchase is almost always cheaper than the gate.
What it is: 1.5 million sq ft of fully air-conditioned park with four zones — Marvel, Cartoon Network, Lost Valley (dinosaurs) and IMG Boulevard.
Standout rides: the Velociraptor (outdoor launch coaster), Thor Thunder Spin, the Haunted Hotel walkthrough, and Predator vertical drop.
Hours: opens daily from 12 PM; closing times vary by season.
Best for: summer visits (it’s indoors!), superhero fans, and mixed-age groups — toddlers get Cartoon Network while teens chase coasters.
Tips: arrive at opening and head straight to the Velociraptor; queues build fast. Outside food isn’t allowed; lockers cost extra. Children under 105 cm enter free.
What it is: 40+ rides, shows and building experiences across six themed lands, plus Miniland — the region’s landmarks rebuilt in 20 million LEGO bricks.
2026 season additions: a new Miniland sound-and-light show, a reimagined Factory Experience, an interactive Master Model Builder Academy, and — at the adjacent Water Park — “The Wave” splash pad for younger kids.
Best for: families with children aged 2–12; teens will find it tame.
Tips: pair it with the Legoland Water Park (combo tickets available) in warmer months; the on-site hotel’s themed rooms make a great staycation. Halloween season (October) adds special events.
What it is: one of the world’s largest waterparks at Atlantis, The Palm — 100+ slides including the Leap of Faith (a near-vertical drop through a shark lagoon), the Aquaconda, lazy rivers, and a private 700 m beach.
Best for: confident swimmers aged 8+; thrill-seekers; anyone who wants slides + beach in one day.
Tips: Atlantis hotel guests get complimentary access — a room night can be cheaper than family day tickets. Arrive at opening for the big slides; afternoons bring the longest queues. Reef and shark experiences (snorkelling, dives) book out — reserve ahead.
All prices are before food, lockers (AED 40–60) and fast-track passes. A family of four should budget AED 1,200–1,800 for a full park day including food.
Head straight to the outdoor Velociraptor coaster before queues build, then work through Lost Valley dinosaurs, Marvel’s Thor and Spider-Man rides, and finish with Cartoon Network’s gentler attractions as crowds peak mid-afternoon. The Haunted Hotel is a walkthrough — do it when coaster lines are longest.
Start at Miniland (emptiest early, best photos), then loop the lands counter-clockwise against the crowd flow. Save the Water Park for after 1 PM when the heat peaks — if you bought the combo.
Sprint to the Tower of Poseidon slides (Leap of Faith, Shark Attack) in the first hour, then the Rapids and Aquaconda before lunch. Afternoon: beach, lazy river and the Lost Chambers aquarium when slide queues peak.
Only Legoland + Legoland Water Park (they’re adjacent and designed for it). IMG and Aquaventure each deserve a full day.
Theme parks: comfortable clothes and closed shoes. Aquaventure: swimwear + rash guard (sun is fierce), water shoes help on hot walkways.
Generally no at IMG; Legoland and Aquaventure allow baby food and limited snacks. All have plenty of dining inside — budget AED 60–100 per person for meals.
IMG Worlds is fully indoor — perfect for summer. Legoland and Aquaventure operate year-round but are best October–April; go at opening and expect midday heat.
Legoland sits inside Dubai Parks and Resorts, the region’s largest theme-park destination, alongside Motiongate Dubai and the Legoland Water Park — all linked by the Riverland Dubai dining and retail promenade (free to enter). If you’re doing two parks, staying in the area makes logistics easy: the Lapita Hotel (Polynesian-themed) and Legoland Hotel both offer park perks, and multi-day tickets bring the per-day cost down sharply. Riverland itself is a pleasant free evening out even without park tickets, with waterfront restaurants and street entertainment.
